Jordi Cruyff, the technical director of Ajax, revealed the reasons that led the Dutch club to recruit Moroccan international Sofyan Amrabat, stating that the player perfectly fits the profile sought by the team.
In statements published by Ajax following the official announcement of the transfer, Cruyff expressed his delight at Amrabat’s arrival, praising the midfielder’s physical and technical qualities as well as his extensive international experience.
The Ajax technical director also explained that Amrabat’s knowledge of the Dutch league was an additional asset in the player’s selection, believing that this experience would allow him to adapt quickly to his new environment.
Cruyff stated: “We are very happy to have finalized Sofyan’s arrival. He is a physically strong player with great technical qualities and solid international experience. He also knows the Dutch league very well, which should allow him to adapt quickly. We recruited Sofyan precisely because he fits the profile we were looking for.”
Cruyff’s statements provide insight into the role that awaits Amrabat in Amsterdam. Ajax sees the Moroccan international as a player combining physical strength and experience, while also possessing a good understanding of Dutch football after his stints at Utrecht and Feyenoord.
Ajax had officially announced Amrabat’s arrival, who signed a contract until June 30, 2028. The Moroccan midfielder joined the club freely after mutually terminating his contract with Fenerbahçe.
