Crystal Palace will have to wait a bit longer to know the exact nature of Chadi Riad’s injury. The Moroccan international defender was injured in the knee last Saturday against Everton and will undergo a new specialist assessment before the club communicates its diagnosis and the potential duration of his unavailability.
Present at a press conference this Wednesday, Pierre Sage acknowledged that it is still too early to set a timeline for Riad’s return. The Eagles’ coach prefers to wait for the specialist’s conclusions before making any statements. Riad is already ruled out for the match against Manchester City, scheduled for Friday in the Premier League.
This uncertainty remains concerning, four days after the Moroccan was carried off on a stretcher. No absence timeline has been announced yet, as the defender had just returned to competition after a long period marked by several injuries.
Meanwhile, Crystal Palace has officially confirmed the loan arrival of Axel Disasi from Chelsea. Pierre Sage admitted that this defensive reinforcement has taken on additional importance following Chadi Riad’s injury, whose health status now hinges on the results of this new medical assessment.
