During the 26th matchday of La Liga, Real Madrid suffered a 2-1 defeat against Real Betis, missing the opportunity to take the lead in the standings. Despite a clear dominance at the start of the match, the Merengues saw Betis equalize and then take the advantage, surprising Carlo Ancelotti’s men.

In the early minutes, Brahim Díaz opened the scoring for Real Madrid, well-served by an excellent combination between Kylian Mbappé and Ferland Mendy. The Moroccan international showed composure to convert this beautiful team play, allowing his team to lead 1-0 within 10 minutes. However, Madrid’s enthusiasm was short-lived.

Johnny Cardoso equalized for Betis just before halftime, before Isco, a former Real Madrid player, converted a penalty at the start of the second half, giving the hosts the advantage. This turnaround allowed Betis to pull off a surprising performance, winning 2-1 against the Spanish giants.

For Brahim Díaz, this match marks his third goal in La Liga this season, bringing his total to three goals and two assists in twenty appearances. Real Madrid, with 54 points, currently occupies second place, two points behind leaders Atlético Madrid and level with their eternal rivals, FC Barcelona.
