Ayyoub Bouaddi is set to experience one of the most anticipated events in English football. Manchester City will travel to Old Trafford on Sunday to face Manchester United in the first derby of the season. Following the Citizens’ European success in Porto, the Moroccan international wants to see his team continue in the same vein.
“This is one of the most important matches of the year, if not the most important. This match means a lot to the supporters, but also to us. We want to win and we will give everything we have,” said Bouaddi.
Manchester City will arrive with confidence. Enzo Maresca’s men have won their first three Premier League matches and are coming off a 2-0 victory against FC Porto on Tuesday in the Champions League. Bouaddi was a starter in that match, which was secured by a brace from Erling Haaland.
“We need to continue playing as we did against Porto, with the same style of play, and then we will see. We cannot predict what will happen. Of course, we want to win every match. We will be ready for anything and we will give everything we have,” the Moroccan continued.
Manchester United, on the other hand, is coming off a 4-0 victory against Sabah on Thursday night in the Champions League. The Red Devils have four points after three league matches, compared to nine for City.
Bouaddi also spoke about the competition within the squad: “We have a lot of very good players. There is a lot of competition and every player is capable of competing with others for a starting spot. Anyone can start. It’s up to each one to prove themselves in training and during matches. That’s football.”
At just 18 years old, Bouaddi could experience his first Manchester derby on Sunday. Manchester United vs. Manchester City will take place on Sunday, September 13, at Old Trafford, with kick-off at 5:30 PM French time.
