Bilal Nadir has returned to team training with Hamburg after being slowed down by minor muscle discomfort. The 22-year-old Moroccan midfielder, who joined on July 24 from Olympique de Marseille, is now working to catch up physically and reach his best condition before the start of official competitions.
The left-footer showcased his qualities during friendly matches, winning against Heidenheim (3-1) and losing to Everton (1-2). He was then rested in training and forced to withdraw from the match against Lille (2-2). After several individual training sessions, Nadir fully rejoined the group on Tuesday, August 11. “At the beginning, I had to work a lot individually and was hindered by a few minor physical issues. Now, everything is fine, and I am happy to be able to train with the team again. I am working hard to get back to 100%,” he explained.
The Moroccan also aims to quickly integrate into his new club. Not one for ambitious statements, he prefers to let his performance on the pitch do the talking. “The priority is to respect the club, its supporters, and their values. This also applies to the coaches, my teammates, and the staff members. Then, I want to show everything I am capable of on the field,” the former Marseille player shared.
Nadir could benefit from additional minutes on Saturday, August 15, at 7 PM, during HSV’s final preparation match against Toulouse. Born in Nice and trained at OGC Nice, he is well-acquainted with French football and considers this match a “real test” before the season resumes. Hamburg will officially launch its season on August 24 against SC Verl in the first round of the DFB-Pokal.
