Ismael Saibari could play an important role in Bayern Munich’s plans from his first season in the Bundesliga. Recruited from PSV Eindhoven and contracted until June 2031, the Moroccan international was notably chosen for his ability to operate in several areas of the attacking sector.
Bayern had considered further strengthening its left flank during the summer transfer window. However, the Bavarian club seems to have enough options thanks to the versatility of its squad. Saibari can play as an attacking midfielder, a central midfielder, a winger, or even in a more advanced role. This adaptability was highlighted by Christoph Freund during the announcement of his transfer. The Bavarian sporting director described the Atlas Lion as a versatile, bold player capable of providing an additional threat in front of goal.
Max Eberl also praised the quality and unpredictability that the Moroccan was expected to bring to Bayern’s attacking play. However, it is important to nuance the idea that the club decided against signing a left winger solely after Saibari’s arrival. This decision seems to be part of a broader reflection on the composition of the squad and the various options available to Vincent Kompany.
However, Saibari will not participate in Bayern’s summer tour in Asia. While he wished to quickly join his new teammates, the 25-year-old player must continue his recovery program in Munich. Medical examinations conducted by the Bavarian medical staff revealed a tear in a muscle fiber in his thigh, sustained during the Round of 16 match of the World Cup against Canada.
The German club therefore does not want to take any risks with its new recruit. Saibari is expected to join the group after the scheduled tour from August 1 to 8, once his recovery is sufficiently advanced. His absence does not call into question the confidence placed in him, but it will slightly delay his first collective training sessions under Vincent Kompany’s orders.
