Out of action for more than a month, Eliesse Ben Seghir is set to take a new step in his recovery. According to information from BILD, the Moroccan international is expected to gradually rejoin the Bayer Leverkusen squad starting next week.
The 21-year-old player will first participate in some segments of team training before returning to a full program. No specific date has been provided yet regarding his return to competition, but this partial return is a positive first sign regarding the progress of his physical condition.
Ben Seghir has been unavailable since mid-July due to a muscle injury in his right thigh, sustained before Leverkusen’s first friendly match against SF Baumberg. His absence has caused him to miss most of the summer preparation as well as the first official match of the season, which the Werkself won on Saturday against Wehen Wiesbaden in the DFB-Pokal (4-0). The German club had initially announced his unavailability for an indefinite period.
As the start of the Bundesliga approaches, his gradual return is good news for Carles Martínez. Once fully recovered, the Atlas Lion will aim to regain continuity and establish himself among the offensive options of the Spanish coach.
