Since arriving at Manchester City, Ayyoub Bouaddi has already been the subject of comparisons with Rodri. Speaking on talkSPORT Breakfast, Mido urged against placing such pressure on the 18-year-old Moroccan international midfielder.
“Comparing him to Rodri would be detrimental to his development,” said the former Egyptian international. According to Mido, the two players possess very different characteristics. The Spaniard relies on his physical strength and ability to cover large areas, while Bouaddi stands out more for his technique, composure under pressure, and skill in navigating difficult situations with the ball.
This warning does not undermine the Moroccan’s potential. Mido views Bouaddi as a great talent and believes that Rodri’s departure should provide him with playing time to gradually showcase his qualities. However, he emphasizes the need to give him time to adapt and build his own identity at Manchester City.
This sentiment is echoed by Enzo Maresca. The Citizens’ coach assured that the former Lille player is physically ready, while advocating for a gradual integration due to his young age and arrival in a new league. Bouaddi could make his debut as early as Friday on the pitch against Crystal Palace.
