Ayoub El Kaabi has taken an important first step in his long healing process. Olympiakos announced that the Moroccan international was successfully operated on this Sunday morning, following his serious injury sustained against Volos during the third round of the Greek championship.
The procedure took place at the Paléo Fáliro clinic of the Athens Medical Center. It was carried out by Christos Theos, head of the medical department at Olympiakos, accompanied by his team. The Piraeus club specified that the postoperative condition of their striker was progressing according to the established program.
Recent updates from Greece now indicate a fracture of the tibia and fibula in the left leg, whereas initial reports only mentioned the tibia. El Kaabi was injured shortly before halftime after a collision with Marios Siampanis, the goalkeeper of Volos, during a match that ended in a draw (1-1).
The Moroccan striker will now begin his rehabilitation under the supervision of the medical staff, with the aim of a gradual, safe, and complete return to competition. Olympiakos has not yet communicated any specific timeline regarding his unavailability.
