The Royal Moroccan Football Federation continues to strengthen its technical staff. According to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, the FRMF has begun discussions with Samba Diawara, currently the assistant coach of Stade de Reims, regarding a potential arrival within one of the national teams.
The discussions are reportedly focused on the role that could be assigned to the Franco-Malian coach. Two possibilities are currently being considered: integration into Mohamed Ouahbi’s staff, as well as a role with the Moroccan U23 team. However, no definitive agreement has yet been reached, and discussions are ongoing to precisely determine the contours of a potential collaboration.
At 48 years old, Samba Diawara has solid experience in technical management. Having previously worked as an assistant at Charleroi and Anderlecht, he joined Stade de Reims in 2022. After serving in several interim roles on the bench, he took charge of the first team in February 2025 and led them to the final of the Coupe de France, before returning to his assistant position with the arrival of Karel Geraerts.
A former Malian international, Diawara also has experience in national team football after having worn the Mali jersey during his playing career. His profile, marked by several years dedicated to training and developing young players, could align with the FRMF’s desire to strengthen the management of its various categories. For now, however, no official announcement has been made, and his potential arrival in Morocco remains contingent upon the outcome of the negotiations.
