The Moroccan national team for local players arrived to Nairobi, Kenya, where Tarik Sektioui’s squad is set to participate in the African Nations Championship (CHAN 2024), jointly hosted by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania. A good experience for the three countries as they will also host the AFCON 2027.

The draw for the tournament placed the Moroccan national team in Group A, alongside hosts Kenya, Zambia, Angola, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. The Atlas Lions will kick off their CHAN 2024 campaign on Sunday, August 3, 2025, with a challenging match against Angola.
Morocco has a strong history in the African Nations Championship, having previously won the title twice, in 2018 and 2020 (the 2020 edition was played in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic). These titles underscore their prowess in the tournament designed exclusively for players competing in the African continent. The team will be looking to add a third CHAN trophy to their cabinet in this edition of the competition even the mission won’t be easy especially with the 75% raise of the winner Prize Money (2 million dollars in the previous tournament). The Champions of this edition will receive USD 3.5 million.
