Ali Maamar will compete in the Europa League group stage with Anderlecht. Starting on Thursday night against Kairat Almaty, the Moroccan full-back contributed to the Mauves’ victory (3-0) in the return leg of the playoff.
Having already won convincingly in Kazakhstan in the first leg (3-0), Anderlecht needed to finish the job in front of their home crowd at Lotto Park. The Belgians left no room for suspense and again won by the same score, thanks to goals from Mihajlo Cvetkovic, Danylo Sikan, and Giulian Biancone.
Ali Maamar was positioned from the start on the right side of Anderlecht’s defense. The Moroccan played just over an hour before being substituted in the 64th minute, in a match that was perfectly controlled by his team.
With an aggregate score of 6-0, Anderlecht logically secures their qualification for the Europa League group stage. Maamar will thus be able to continue his European journey this season with the Mauves.
