Real Betis returned to winning ways with a 3-1 victory over Real Sociedad on Friday, during Matchday 5 of LaLiga EA Sports at La Cartuja Stadium. Led by an inspired Ez Abde and a crucial Sofyan Amrabat in midfield, the Andalusians secured their second win of the season, bouncing back after a mixed start to the campaign.
From the first minutes, Betis showed their attacking intentions. Colombian Cucho Hernández opened the scoring in the 7th minute, rewarding Manuel Pellegrini’s men for their strong start. However, a lost ball by Junior Firpo allowed Brais Méndez to quickly equalize for the Basques (13th). Real, still seeking their first win of the season, tried to keep up the pressure, but the defensive solidity of the Seville side, with Amrabat making numerous recoveries, contained their attacks.
After the break, Betis regained the lead thanks to a twist of fate: from a Pablo Fornals cross, goalkeeper Alex Remiro scored an own goal under pressure from Abde (49th minute). On fire, the Moroccan international continued to cause havoc on his wing, energizing the home side’s attack. Fornals, also very impressive, sealed the victory in the 69th minute by finishing a beautiful team move.
While Abde was the standout player of the match with his activity and constant bursts of pace, Sofyan Amrabat provided valuable balance in midfield, recovering numerous balls and orchestrating the transitions. Their combined influence allowed Betis to claim a convincing victory.
Thanks to this win, the Verdiblancos now have two victories and reinforce their ambitions to compete at the top of the table. Meanwhile, Real Sociedad continues to struggle and will need to respond quickly to avoid falling behind.
