Noussair Mazraoui was unable to finish the match between Lesotho and Morocco (0-2), played this Tuesday in Bloemfontein as part of the second day of the CAN 2027 qualifiers. The Moroccan defender was forced to leave his teammates in the second half after sustaining an injury.
The incident occurred around the 69th minute. After a duel, the Manchester United player immediately appeared to feel pain in his lower back. Remaining on the ground, Mazraoui received treatment while several of his teammates signaled to the bench that a substitution was necessary.
This exit now constitutes a point of concern for the Atlas Lions’ staff, as well as for Manchester United. At this stage, no official communication has yet specified the exact nature of the injury or any potential duration of unavailability.
Mazraoui had started the match against Lesotho after already being named in the starting lineup a few days earlier against Gabon. He had notably stood out during this first day of the qualifiers by scoring one of the two goals in Morocco’s victory (2-0).
Morocco ultimately won 2-0 in Bloemfontein and now has two victories in as many matches in these CAN 2027 qualifiers.
