Mohamed Ouahbi now has a wide range of options within his squad. Before facing Lesotho on Tuesday in Bloemfontein, the coach can count on almost all of his players, with Nayef Aguerd being the only unavailable member.
This situation further intensifies competition for several positions. With the return of Brahim Díaz, as well as the presence of Achraf Hakimi and Ismaël Saibari after their respective suspensions, Ouahbi will have to make several choices to form his team.
Since taking office, the Moroccan coach has maintained a logic based notably on current form and club performances. When announcing his squad in September, he had already explained that a player’s status or past was not enough to guarantee their place in the national team.
The young players called up for this gathering have also contributed to increasing this competition. Yassir Zabiri, Yassine Gessime, and Abdellah Ouazane have thus gained playing time against Gabon, while other players are still waiting for their opportunity.
Against Lesotho, Ouahbi therefore has more solutions than in the first match. This situation will also allow him to continue his work in building a squad where places must be earned on the field.
