Absent during Morocco’s victory against Gabon, Brahim Díaz is indeed suffering from a physical issue. Mohamed Ouahbi provided details on the health status of the Moroccan international after the match, while reassuring about the severity of his injury.
The coach explained that the player arrived at the gathering with discomfort that required further examinations.
“He arrived with some minor physical problems. We had to do an MRI and we saw that it was an issue that would prevent him from playing this match. He has an injury that needs treatment, but it is not too serious; otherwise, he wouldn’t have stayed with us,” Mohamed Ouahbi explained at the press conference.
The Moroccan technician also emphasized Brahim Díaz’s state of mind, as he wanted to remain with the group despite his unavailability against Gabon.
“Once he learned that the injury was not very serious, he was very happy. He wanted to play, he wants to be here and travel to South Africa to play against Lesotho. That’s a very good thing.”
Brahim Díaz’s presence for the next match is therefore linked to the evolution of his discomfort in the coming days. “We need to treat his injury, his discomfort. He will continue to receive treatment, and we will try to recover him as quickly as possible,” Ouahbi concluded.
The medical staff of the Atlas Lions will continue the treatment to determine if the player can be recovered in time for the trip to South Africa.
