The African Football Confederation (CAF) has appointed South African referee Abongile Tom to officiate the match between Morocco and Gabon, scheduled for Friday, September 25, at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex in Rabat, as part of the first round of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
The South African official will be assisted by his compatriot Zahele Siwela and Angolan Jerson dos Santos for this first outing of the Lions of the Atlas in Group A, which also includes Niger and Lesotho.
The team led by Mohamed Ouahbi will aim to kick off their qualifying campaign with a victory in front of their home crowd against a Gabonese side now managed by Sébastien Migné.
After this initial confrontation, the Lions of the Atlas will travel to South Africa to face Lesotho on Tuesday, September 29, for the second round of the qualifiers. This match will be officiated by Cameroonian referee Abdou Abdel Mefire.
