For his first call-up to the Moroccan national A team, Alaa Bellaarouch does not hide his emotion. The goalkeeper of Dinamo București reflected on the moment he learned the news, as well as the opportunity he has to work alongside experienced goalkeepers under the Atlas Lions jersey.
Bellaarouch explained that he discovered his call-up after a training session with his club. Already familiar with Moroccan selections in the youth categories, the 24-year-old goalkeeper acknowledges that this first experience with the seniors has a special flavor. “The news came after training with my team. I was very happy to be called up for the first time with the national A team,” he shared in a statement released by the Royal Moroccan Football Federation.
The Moroccan also recognizes the privilege of being able to train alongside goalkeepers like Yassine Bounou, Ahmed Reda Tagnaouti, and Munir El Kajoui. “It is an honor to work with goalkeepers like Bounou, Tagnaouti, and El Mohamedi,” he particularly emphasized. A strong competition that Bellaarouch sees mainly as an opportunity to learn and improve.
On a collective level, the newcomer already expresses his ambitions: “We will try to give our all, as usual, and to achieve two victories,” referring to the matches against Gabon and Lesotho in the qualifiers for CAN 2027.
This first call-up comes after Bellaarouch delivered a convincing performance with Dinamo București. Starting on Sunday against Farul Constanța, he kept a clean sheet during his team’s comprehensive victory (4-0), confirming his good form before joining the Atlas Lions.
