Hamza Igamane is gradually continuing his return. Absent from the pitch since January due to a serious injury to his right knee, the Moroccan forward of LOSC participated in some collective exercises during Lille’s training on Thursday, marking a new encouraging step in his rehabilitation process.
The Moroccan international suffered a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee during the Africa Cup of Nations final against Senegal on January 18. He came on during extra time but had to leave the field a few minutes later after a collision with the opposing goalkeeper. LOSC then announced that he would be unavailable for several months.
Since then, Igamane has been progressing step by step. He returned to the Domaine de Luchin in the spring to continue his rehabilitation, resumed running in June, and participated in the club’s summer training. His partial presence with the group now represents an additional progression, although no imminent return has been announced yet.
LOSC remains cautious with their forward. Igamane has not been registered for the Champions League group stage, and his return to competition is not expected until later this year, depending on the progress of his knee.
Before his injury, the Moroccan was showing particularly impressive performance in Ligue 1 with 5 goals in 428 minutes, averaging a goal every 86 minutes, the best ratio in the league among players who scored at least two goals in the 2025-2026 season.
For Hamza Igamane, the main focus now is to gradually regain all his sensations without rushing back after nearly eight months of absence.
