Nayef Aguerd has agreed that Olympique de Marseille will pay him part of his salary at a later date. According to information from L’Équipe, the Moroccan international defender has given his consent to this arrangement proposed by the management to ease the club’s financial burden in the short term.
This decision, however, does not correspond to a permanent reduction in his remuneration. Aguerd is expected to receive the full amounts stipulated in his contract, but according to a revised payment schedule. His gesture will thus allow OM to better distribute the cost of his salary.
This initiative is part of the operation led by the Marseille leaders to reduce the annual cost of the squad. President Stéphane Richard recently announced that OM’s payroll had already been reduced by 30 to 35% during the summer, while confirming ongoing discussions with several of the highest-paid players.
Arriving from West Ham in September 2025, Nayef Aguerd is under contract with Marseille until June 2030. At this stage, the details of this financial agreement have not been officially communicated by the club or by the Moroccan international.
