Couhaib Driouech is getting closer to his long-awaited debut with Celta Vigo. For the first time since his arrival from PSV Eindhoven, the Moroccan international is included in the squad for the match against Real Sociedad, scheduled for Thursday at 9 PM at Anoeta, during an advanced fixture of the 6th round of La Liga.
However, the 24-year-old winger is not expected to start the match. Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, Claudio Giráldez explained that his new player still needs time to adapt: “I don’t see him starting yet, but he can have some minutes.” His entry into the game against the Basque club is therefore seriously considered.
The Celta coach also believes that Driouech’s individual qualities can allow him to contribute quickly, despite the limited number of training sessions he has had with his new teammates. His ability to create opportunities and make a difference without fully relying on collective automatisms is seen as an asset by the Spanish technician.
This first call-up represents a new step for the Moroccan, who assured on Monday, during his official presentation, that he has fully recovered from his recent muscle issue. While he is expected to start on the bench, Driouech could now take advantage of the trip to San Sebastián to play his first minutes in the Celta jersey.
