The trend has reversed for Nayef Aguerd. Long considered one of the candidates to leave Olympique de Marseille, the Moroccan international defender is now expected to continue his adventure in the Phocaean city. According to La Provence, his transfer is no longer favored just days before the transfer window closes.
A return to Real Sociedad had been considered earlier this summer. OM and the Basque club had reached an agreement, but the operation ultimately did not materialize. Aguerd later clarified that this failure was not related to his medical examination, but to a disagreement regarding the protocol for his return.
The Atlas Lion is also reported to have declined a particularly significant financial offer from Saudi Arabia. This decision now strengthens the hypothesis of his stay in Marseille.
Under contract with OM until June 2030, Nayef Aguerd is therefore expected to remain at the disposal of Bruno Genesio this season, unless there is a turnaround in the final days of the transfer market.
