Amine Sbaï delivered an encouraging performance despite Angers’ defeat to Lille (0-2) on Sunday at the Raymond-Kopa Stadium, during the first day of Ligue 1. Positioned on the left side of the attack, the Atlas Lion played the entire match. Olivier Giroud (11th minute) and Tiago Santos (31st minute) scored Lille’s two goals.
Despite a quickly unfavorable scenario, Sbaï remained one of the most enterprising players for Angers. Frequently involved in his flank, he notably set up Jacques Ekomié in the 54th minute, before participating in another dangerous situation concluded by Jim Allevinah. In stoppage time, the Moroccan winger created one last opportunity in the box, but his attempt was blocked.
With three shots, Sbaï received a rating of 7.7 on FotMob, the highest score awarded to an Angers player. This first start of the season confirms the significant role that the Moroccan international could play in the offensive dynamics of SCO.
