Anis Soubeir made his first steps in Ligue 1 this Sunday during AS Monaco’s victory over Havre AC (0-1) on the opening day. Coming on in the 57th minute for Mamadou Coulibaly, the 19-year-old Moroccan midfielder participated in the last half hour of a match won thanks to a header from Eric Dier in the first half.
The young Monaco player needed only two minutes to make an impression. In the 59th minute, with his very first touch, Soubeir showcased his technical quality. Found in the box by Aleksandr Golovin, he completely outmaneuvered Ayumu Seko with a superb drag-back before following up with a shot from the outside of his foot. However, Lionel Mpasi was perfectly positioned to save his attempt and prevent the Moroccan from scoring on his debut in the top flight.
This encouraging entry confirms the trust placed in the young midfielder by Filipe Luís since the start of the preparation. Regularly used in friendly matches, Soubeir notably delivered the corner for Paris Brunner’s winning goal against Liverpool at Anfield, before being named in the starting lineup against Coventry. Three days before the trip to Havre, he also played his first official minutes against Górnik Zabrze in the Conference League, forcing the opposing goalkeeper to intervene on a remarkable free kick.
Arriving from FC Metz in 2025 and contracted to Monaco until June 2028, the U20 Moroccan international continues his rise between the Elite Group and the first team. Filipe Luís recently mentioned him among the young players who have shown their qualities during the preparation and are capable of helping the professional group. His first appearance in Ligue 1, marked by a moment of great class, now strengthens his status as a talent to watch within the club of the Principality.
