Azzedine Ounahi did not participate in Girona’s defeat against Córdoba (2-1) on Friday night during the second round of the Segunda División. Not called up by Quique Álvarez, the Atlas Lion missed a second consecutive official match after the draw against Leganés (1-1).
According to AS, this latest absence is part of the Moroccan midfielder’s desire to leave the Catalan club before the transfer window closes. Ounahi was neither on the match sheet nor among the substitutes against Córdoba.
Without him, Girona found themselves trailing 2-0 after goals from Víctor Sánchez in the 11th minute and Diego Bri in the 36th. Yáser Asprilla reduced the deficit in the 84th minute, but could not prevent Girona from suffering their first defeat of the season, still without a victory after two matches.
Already linked with Hull City, Ipswich Town, Ajax Amsterdam, and Al-Ittihad, Ounahi now seems to be heading towards a departure. No agreement has been announced yet, but his two consecutive absences confirm that he is currently not part of Girona’s immediate plans.
