Nayef Aguerd is gradually getting closer to returning to collective training with Olympique de Marseille. Present at a press conference on Tuesday, July 28, Bruno Génésio provided encouraging news regarding the physical condition of the Moroccan international defender.
Currently engaged in a reconditioning program, Aguerd could rejoin his teammates at the beginning of August during the training camp organized by OM in the Netherlands.
“Regarding Nayef, there is good news. He is on the right track with his reconditioning. I am hopeful that he will be able to resume training with the group during the camp in the Netherlands,” explained the Marseille coach.
The Marseille gathering is scheduled to take place from August 3 to 8. However, Aguerd’s return during this period remains a possibility rather than a definitive deadline. The Olympian staff will continue to monitor his progress daily before confirming his return to the group.
Bruno Génésio also expressed satisfaction with the overall development of his central defense. Leonardo Balerdi has already resumed normal training and is expected to partially participate in the friendly match against Nîmes. Facundo Medina, for his part, is expected back on August 12 after his rest period. “These are rather good news for our central defense,” summarized the French coach.
The return of Nayef Aguerd would represent an important reinforcement for OM as the new season approaches. However, the Moroccan defender will need to complete the final stages of his reconditioning before he can fully return to competition.
