Alberto Núñez Feijóo, president of the Spanish Popular Party, has taken a stance on the choice of the country that will host the final of the 2030 World Cup. The leader of the Spanish opposition believes that this match should be held in Spain and has directly addressed the president of the government, Pedro Sánchez.
“What is fair is that the final is played in Spain,” Feijóo stated. He clarified that this position is not based solely on his nationality, but also on Spain’s footballing tradition and its status among the great nations of world football.
The PP leader also urged Pedro Sánchez not to negotiate the location of the final with Morocco. This statement highlights the political and symbolic importance of this issue, as both countries wish to host the last match of the 2030 World Cup.
However, Feijóo did not directly criticize Morocco, its infrastructure, or its organizational capabilities. His intervention primarily aims to defend the Spanish candidacy. To date, FIFA has not yet officially designated the stadium that will host the final of the competition organized jointly by Morocco, Spain, and Portugal.
