Issa Diop could continue his career in the Premier League with Ipswich Town. The Moroccan international defender is reportedly close to leaving Fulham, four years after his arrival at Craven Cottage, to join the newly promoted club in the English top flight.
According to reports surrounding the deal, Fulham and Ipswich have reached an agreement for a transfer estimated at around 10 million euros. The 29-year-old player has also given his approval for a four-season contract with the Portman Road team. His medical examination is expected to take place soon before the operation is finalized.
Ipswich is actively preparing for its return to the Premier League after securing promotion with a 3-0 victory against Queens Park Rangers on the final day of the Championship. The club finished in second place in the standings and immediately returned to the top tier, a year after its relegation.
Arriving at Fulham in August 2022 from West Ham, Issa Diop signed a five-year contract, valid until June 2027. The Moroccan defender is now entering the final year of his commitment, which could prompt the London club’s management to accept his departure rather than risk losing him for free at the end of the season.
Recently sought after by Como, Diop’s stock has reportedly risen following his performances with the Atlas Lions during the 2026 World Cup. The Italian club made an initial approach, which was rebuffed by Fulham, before Ipswich accelerated negotiations.
Subject to a successful medical examination and the signing of documents, Issa Diop is set to become one of Ipswich’s experienced reinforcements for their return to the Premier League. At 29, the former defender of Toulouse and West Ham is well-acquainted with the English league and could quickly take on an important role in the Tractor Boys’ defense.
