The future of Sofyan Amrabat could be written in Saudi Arabia. According to Turkish journalist Levent Ümit Erol, Al-Ittihad is preparing to submit a €20 million offer to Fenerbahçe to recruit the Moroccan midfielder. Should an agreement be reached between the two clubs and with the player, the Lion of the Atlas would continue his career in the Saudi Pro League. At this stage, however, no official proposal or agreement has been announced.
Amrabat is returning from a one-season loan at Real Betis, which concluded in September 2025. His time in Andalusia started well: when available, his physical impact, experience, and ability to protect the defense convinced Manuel Pellegrini, who still considers him a useful player in his setup. However, his record must be nuanced, as a tibia injury sustained against Utrecht in November kept him off the pitch for several months and prevented him from maintaining regular appearances.
The absence of a permanent transfer at the end of the loan cannot be explained solely by his performances. The operation is particularly complicated financially. Fenerbahçe is reportedly demanding over €10 million to release him, while the Moroccan’s salary exceeds the usual standards of the Seville club. Furthermore, the loan did not include an automatic purchase option, forcing Betis to open new negotiations with the Turkish club.
However, the case is not completely closed. According to Spanish media, Pellegrini still wishes to bring Amrabat back for the upcoming campaign, but the player would need to accept a significant pay cut and Fenerbahçe would have to reconsider its demands. The potential move from Al-Ittihad, with an offer reported at €20 million, could now make a return to Betis much more difficult.
