Standard Liège has reportedly placed Yassine Kechta on its list to strengthen its midfield. According to Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri, the Liège management particularly appreciates the profile of the Moroccan international, who is capable of playing as a central midfielder or in a deeper playmaker role.
Having reached the end of his contract with Le Havre AC on June 30, 2026, the 24-year-old player is now free to sign with the club of his choice. This situation makes his recruitment particularly appealing for Standard, which would not have to pay any transfer fee. Kechta had extended his contract with the Normandy club until June 2026 in August 2023.
The Moroccan could notably help the Rouches compensate for the departure of Teddy Teuma. Signed last January on a six-month contract, the former Union Saint-Gilloise player left Standard at the end of the season after discussions regarding a potential extension failed. At this stage, however, Liège’s interest in Kechta has not yet resulted in an official offer.
