France – Morocco: Managing yellow cards, a detail not to be overlooked

As the quarter-final between France and Morocco approaches, another challenge accompanies the preparation of the Atlas Lions: managing yellow cards. In such an important match, discipline could weigh heavily, especially for several Moroccan players who have already been cautioned since the start of the tournament.

Yellow cards will be reset after the quarter-finals. However, this rule does not protect players already at risk of suspension. In the event of another warning against France, a concerned player would automatically miss Morocco’s next match if they qualify.

Several key players in the Moroccan squad are affected by this situation. Bilal El Khannouss, Achraf Hakimi, Azzedine Ounahi, Issa Diop, and Halhal will need to exercise caution without reducing their commitment in such a demanding encounter.

Facing a French team capable of provoking fouls and bringing a lot of intensity to duels, Mohamed Ouahbi will need to find the right balance. Morocco will need fully engaged players, but also those who remain clear-headed during crucial moments, particularly in disputes, late tackles, or tactical fouls.

This quarter-final will obviously be played on technical, tactical, and mental levels. But in a competition of this caliber, disciplinary details can also be significant. For the Atlas Lions, the objective will be clear: to play with determination, but without falling into the trap of unnecessary cards.
