New York, USA – After its unforgettable run at the Qatar 2022 World Cup, the Moroccan National Team once again made an impression during its first appearance at the FIFA World Cup 2026. The Atlas Lions showcased their game against a tactically solid Brazilian team that managed to leverage its individual talents to secure a valuable point.

Morocco and the Seleção Cancel Each Other Out After a Tactical Duel
This clash between two top 10 teams in the world rankings (Brazil 6th and Morocco 7th), the only matchup of this caliber in the group stage, started at a fast pace. From the early minutes, Morocco’s eleven demonstrated their offensive intentions, particularly through actions from Brahim Diaz, Neil El Aynaoui, and captain Achraf Hakimi. Their efforts were rewarded with a goal from Saibari (21′). Well assisted by Diaz, Ismael lobbed Alisson Becker perfectly, signaling the opening of the score. The Brazilian response came eleven minutes later through Vinicius, who equalized with an individual effort.

A Second Half Dominated by Morocco
Returning from the locker room, Mohamed Ouahbi’s players dominated and displayed a good understanding of the game throughout the second half, although their actions lacked a bit of boldness. However, the final minutes could have brought joy to Moroccan supporters, particularly with a long-range shot from El Aynaoui that was saved in two attempts by Alisson. The Brazilian goalkeeper narrowly prevented a goal from Ayoub Amaimouni, who had followed up.

One Point… But Better Than Nothing
This first match in the group stage offers a good qualification option for the next round, provided they secure a victory in one of their upcoming matches in Group C against Scotland or Haiti. It is worth noting that the top two teams from each group qualify directly for the second round, in addition to the eight best third-placed teams.
