The Olympique de Marseille saw its journey in the Coupe de France come to an end in the quarter-finals on Wednesday, March 4, 2026 (9:00 PM), at the Vélodrome, against Toulouse FC. Despite taking the lead twice, the Marseillais were pegged back each time and ultimately lost on penalties (2-2, 3-4 on penalties), after a frustrating evening.

In this match, Nayef Aguerd was one of the Moroccan representatives on the Olympique side: a starter, he played the entire match and also took responsibility during the penalty shootout. After seeing his first attempt saved (the goalkeeper was off his line), the central defender converted the retaken penalty, but it was not enough to avoid elimination.

On the field, OM started strong with a penalty converted by Greenwood in the 2nd minute, before conceding an equalizer from a corner (Gboho). After the break, Marseille regained the lead thanks to Paixão (56th), but Toulouse responded again, once more from a corner, with Cresswell (60th) bringing the two teams back to 2-2.

The Moroccan international, Bilal Nadir, came on during the match (58th), in a tense finish where every ball counted. He notably contributed to the defensive efforts in the final minutes, but OM could not make the difference before the shootout.

In the end, Toulouse secured their place in the semi-finals, while Marseille adds another disappointment in the Coupe de France this season. For Aguerd and Nadir, the elimination leaves a bitter taste.
