FRMF meeting: No official announcement on Regragui

Meeting this Thursday at the headquarters of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), the board of directors chaired by Fouzi Lekjaa did not communicate any decision regarding the future of coach Hoalid Regragui, despite ongoing rumors about a possible change at the helm of the Atlas Lions.

In its statement, the FRMF emphasized the current sports and institutional priorities. Fouzi Lekjaa notably discussed the international dimension of Moroccan football in the short and medium term, while highlighting the “exceptional” nature of the current season, marked by a series of important events: the African Nations Championship (CHAN), the Arab Cup, and the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN).

Regarding the CAN file, the president of the FRMF indicated that a comprehensive assessment of the competition will be the subject of a specific meeting in the coming days. He also clarified that the legal aspects related to the events surrounding the final are still ongoing, referring to disciplinary decisions by CAF deemed unfavorable to Morocco, with a clear intention to pursue the matter through the established legal procedures.

Another major point: regulatory reforms related to the National Professional Football League (LNFP). The president of the LNFP, Abdeslam Belkchour, presented several proposals for adjustments, particularly concerning the organization of general assemblies, the framework for monitoring and auditing club membership conditions, as well as legal recommendations governing professional practice. The issue of scheduling was also discussed, with the aim of allowing national competitions to be completed on time.

In this context, the absence of any mention of Hoalid Regragui in the official communication fuels a cautious interpretation: at this stage, the FRMF is not publicly validating any direction regarding the bench of the Atlas Lions, while several names are circulating in the media (Xavi, Hervé Renard, Sektioui, or Mohamed Ouahbi), without confirmation from the federation.
