U17 Lioncelles Turn the Tide Against Scotland in Murcia

The Moroccan U17 women’s team achieved an encouraging victory in Spain during the MIMA Cup held in Murcia. Facing Scotland for their first international outing of the year, the Lioncelles had to work hard to come back from behind before making the difference at the end of the match: a 2-1 success.

Under a clear sky at the Pinatar Arena complex, the match started off competitively, with Scotland quickly making advances on the flanks. The British side eventually found the opening from a set piece before halftime, taking advantage of a well-executed ball in the box to gain the lead. Despite some Moroccan chances, particularly on the wings, Morocco went into the locker room trailing by a goal.

Upon returning, the Moroccan players displayed a more pressing demeanor. More aggressive in recovery and technically sharper, they gradually established their game. The equalizer came after a well-constructed sequence from a corner: the ball was sent into a crowded area, before falling favorably for Malak, who finished from close range.

Morocco then continued to press, without rushing. With ten minutes remaining, the Lioncelles earned a penalty. The Scottish goalkeeper initially managed to save Baha Mayssa’s attempt, but Mayssa followed up perfectly to push the ball into the net and give Morocco the lead.

This victory, achieved in a preparatory context, remains a positive signal ahead of upcoming challenges, showcasing interesting content and a solid mindset, especially after having been behind in the score.

    Final score: Scotland 1-2 Morocco
