The Moroccan full-back Omar El Hilali reached a symbolic milestone this weekend by playing his 100th official match for Espanyol Barcelona. A personal pride for the player trained at the club, who continues to establish himself as a key figure in the Catalan dressing room.

Despite the defeat against Villarreal, this match will remain special for the Moroccan defender. “I still remember my first match against Albacete. It was a very special moment, but I never imagined I would reach 100 matches,” he confides emotionally. “It’s the result of hard work and all the efforts made. I am really very proud.”

An example of consistency and humility

At just 21 years old, El Hilali symbolizes the success of the blanquiazul training center. Since his professional debut, he has continued to progress, combining discipline and determination. “Every child who enters the Ciutat Esportiva dreams of playing as many matches as possible with the first team. I hope to continue for many more years,” he states, aware of the journey he has taken.

While celebrating this important milestone, the young Moroccan keeps a cool head and remains focused on collective goals. “We need to emphasize what we didn’t do well and continue doing what works. The team has character and never gives up, no matter the situation in the match. It’s an essential quality that will allow us to win many games.”

Looking ahead to Sevilla FC and the rest of the season

Already focused on the next challenge against Sevilla FC, El Hilali refuses to dwell on the defeat against Villarreal. “What’s past is behind us. We must now concentrate on Sevilla FC. We know it will be a difficult match, but we have this match in mind and we absolutely want the victory,” he announces with determination.

Aware of his team’s good standing (6th with 18 points), he prefers to remain cautious: “We are in a nice position, especially a comfortable one. The goal is to stay up. Thinking about anything else for now would be a mistake. Once that is secured, we can aim higher.”

    A maturity praised

Not called up for the last gathering of the Moroccan national team, El Hilali approaches the situation with serenity. “It’s part of football. This time, I wasn’t called, so I stay focused on my daily routine with Espanyol. I want to give everything to help the team win the next match.”

With clarity, ambition, and attachment to the jersey, Omar El Hilali perfectly embodies the values of RCD Espanyol. A player who, despite his youth, is already establishing himself as a model of professionalism and a worthy representative of Moroccan football in Spain.
