Speaking this Wednesday at a conference organized in Huesca by the Association of Leaders and Executives of Aragon (ADEA), Tebas stated that, “as long as Gianni Infantino is there and barring any surprises,” the final of the 2030 World Cup will be held in Morocco. The Spanish leader had already mentioned this possibility the day before, even suggesting that Spain should “rethink” its participation in the project if FIFA ultimately chose Morocco to host the final.<\/p>\n
To support his analysis, Javier Tebas notably referred to the influence of Fouzi Lekjaa within international football bodies as well as the construction of the Grand Stade Hassan II near Casablanca. The president of the FRMF had himself declared on September 10 that the province of Benslimane would have “the honor of hosting the final of the 2030 World Cup.” Tebas thus joked about the dimensions of the future Moroccan stadium, implying that a venue of such scale was obviously not being built without major ambitions.<\/p>\n
However, the file remains officially open. In response to Lekjaa’s statements, FIFA reaffirmed that the decision regarding the final would be made “in due time.” The global body had also denied, in early August, reports claiming that Gianni Infantino had already promised to host the final in Morocco.
