Ajax Amsterdam has officially announced the signing of Moroccan international Sofyan Amrabat. The midfielder has committed to the Dutch club for two seasons, until June 2028.<\/p>\n
Amrabat joined Ajax on a free transfer after reaching an agreement with his former club, Fenerbah\u00e7e, to terminate his contract. The Dutch club therefore did not pay any transfer fee.<\/p>\n
At 30 years old, the Moroccan returns to a Dutch league he knows well, having previously played for Utrecht and Feyenoord at the beginning of his professional career. He later played abroad, notably for Fiorentina, Manchester United, Fenerbah\u00e7e, and Real Betis.<\/p>\n
Jordi Cruyff, the technical director of Ajax, expressed his delight at the completion of the deal, stating that Amrabat fits the profile the club was looking for to strengthen its midfield.<\/p>\n
Cruyff said: “We are very happy to have finalized the arrival of Sofyan. He is a physically strong player, with great technical qualities and solid international experience. He also knows the Dutch league very well, which should allow him to adapt quickly. We recruited Sofyan precisely because he fits the profile we were looking for.”<\/p>\n
The arrival of Amrabat allows Ajax to strengthen its midfield with a player who has solid experience in European football. His knowledge of the Dutch league should also facilitate his quick integration into the team.<\/p>\n
By signing with Ajax, Amrabat opens a new chapter in his career and returns to the Netherlands several years after his departure.
