The Moroccan women’s national team continues their remarkable run in the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations. On Friday, July 18, 2025, the Atlas Lionesses secured their place in the semi-finals with a controlled 3-1 victory over Mali at the Olympic Stadium in Rabat.
As early as the 7th minute, Ibtissam Jraïdi opened the scoring, putting the Moroccan team on the right track. The forward then doubled the lead in the 79th minute with a penalty. In the final moments of the match, Kenza Chapelle sealed Morocco’s victory by scoring the third goal in the 89th minute.
Mali saved some pride in the dying seconds thanks to Aïssata Traoré, who converted a penalty in the 97th minute. However, the late goal was too little, too late to prevent Morocco’s qualification.
With this performance, the national team has secured a spot in the final four. They will face the winner of the clash between Ghana and Algeria, scheduled for this Saturday.
The semi-final is scheduled for Tuesday, July 22, 2025, still in Rabat, with kickoff set for 8 PM at the Olympic Stadium.
