A masterstroke for Toulouse, who caught up with RC Lens by securing a 1-0 victory in the 16th round of Ligue 1. A penalty converted by Zakaria Aboukhlal in the 73rd minute was enough for the visitors to claim three crucial points. Lens, reduced to ten men after David Costa was sent off in the 61st minute, failed to turn the game around.

This victory allows Toulouse to join Lens in 7th place in the standings, reigniting their ambitions in the top half of the table.

After the match, Zakaria Aboukhlal, the sole scorer of the evening, shared his thoughts with DAZN:

“We defended well tonight, as a team. We waited for the right moment to strike. Our goal this season? To go as high as possible because we have a great team. Personally, I aim to score and deliver as many assists as I can to help the team.”

With this decisive penalty, the Moroccan international now has 6 goals and 2 assists in 16 Ligue 1 matches this season. A key figure in Toulouse’s attack, Aboukhlal continues to play a crucial role in the club’s aspirations, which now include moving closer to European qualification spots.

A solid performance and a well-deserved victory for Toulouse, who send a strong message to their direct competitors.
