The Lille team welcomed Borussia Dortmund this Wednesday evening for the second leg of the Round of 16 of the Champions League at the Pierre Mauroy Stadium in Lille.
The Lillois started the match strong, breaking the deadlock as early as the 5th minute through Jonathan David, taking the lead on the scoreboard. However, they then started to retreat and faltered, ceding possession and initiative to the Germans.
Ayoub Bouaddi, who was a starter but less comfortable than usual, showed availability and good positioning, although he displayed more technical shortcomings than usual. Nevertheless, he demonstrated generosity. The midfielder, sought after by both the French and Moroccan national teams, was substituted in the second half in the 74th minute after Dortmund managed to take the lead by scoring twice…
Osâmes Sahraoui, returning from injury, started the match on the bench before coming on in the 83rd minute to try to help his team equalize in the dying moments and secure a possible extension…
Unfortunately for the Lillois, the feat was not achieved, and their elimination in the Round of 16 of the Champions League by the finalists of the last edition was confirmed… although it must be admitted that this elimination came with honor for the northern club.
