Morocco has a new dual-national talent. Sami Bouhoudane, a promising striker from PSV Eindhoven, has made his choice: he will represent Morocco at the international level, despite the persistent interest from the Netherlands to attract him to their youth teams.
The news was notably reported this Thursday, with the striker opting for Morocco “despite several attempts by the Dutch Federation.”
At 18 years old and having been trained at PSV since 2018, Bouhoudane has established himself as one of the most followed offensive profiles in the academy. This season, he has been delivering performances with the U19s and the reserve team: 4 goals in 4 matches in the Youth League, and 5 goals in 12 appearances in the Keuken Kampioen Divisie.
Born in Bergen op Zoom, the young forward was understandably at the center of a sporting tug-of-war between the two federations. According to information published on March 5, the KNVB attempted to convince him several times, but was unable to change his decision.
The immediate consequence: Bouhoudane is now set to join the Moroccan U20s, a first step that confirms the direction of his international project under the Lionceaux jersey, with the ambition to gradually progress to the highest level.
