New Lazio Rome recruit, Reda Belahyane, has inherited the symbolic number 21 at the Italian club. In a statement, the Moroccan midfielder expressed his respect for Sergej Milinković-Savić, a former club legend, while affirming his determination to honor the number on the pitch.
“Yes, I know it was an important number at Lazio; it belonged to Savić, a club legend, and I have a lot of respect for him. I hope to honor this number. I’ve always liked it—even when I played at Nice, I wanted to take the 21, but at the time, since I was young, they didn’t let me. They told me to take the 37 instead, and now that it’s available, I’m taking it. I will do my best to honor those who wore it before me.”
