Raja Casablanca secured a crucial victory on Saturday, January 4, against the leader of the Betway Premiership, Mamelodi Sundowns, in the second leg of the CAF Champions League 2024-2025. The Greens won 1-0, with a decisive goal from Benaissa Benamar scored in stoppage time of the first half (45’+2).
The intense and closely contested match was marked by several red cards. The South Africans finished with nine players after red cards were shown to Bathusi Aubaas (40’) and Khuliso Mudau (90+5), while Raja played with ten men after Marouane Zila’s expulsion (80’).
This victory is a significant achievement for Raja Casablanca, keeping them alive in Group B, currently dominated by AS FAR. Now in third place, the Casablanca club is just one point behind Mamelodi Sundowns, who are in second, and can rightfully hope for qualification to the next round.
