Paris Saint-Germain suffered a cruel defeat at home against Liverpool (0-1) in the first leg of the Champions League Round of 16. Despite dominating the game and creating numerous chances, the Parisians were unable to convert their opportunities.

From the very first moments of the match, PSG asserted its dominance, taking control of the game against a struggling Liverpool side. Achraf Hakimi, deployed on the right flank, delivered an impressive performance under the watchful eye of Morocco’s national team coach, Hoalid Regragui, who was present in the stands to observe his player. Strong defensively and highly active in attack, the Parisian full-back created several chances but lacked the finishing touch.

Despite their near-total control of the match, PSG struggled with efficiency against an outstanding Alisson Becker. The Brazilian goalkeeper made multiple decisive saves, notably stopping a powerful shot from Désiré Doué that seemed destined for the back of the net.

As PSG pushed relentlessly to break the deadlock, Liverpool showcased ruthless efficiency. On one of their rare ventures into the Parisian box, the Reds capitalized on a defensive lapse, with Harvey Elliott seizing the opportunity to score the only goal of the match. A true smash-and-grab victory, considering how dominant Luis Enrique’s men had been throughout the game.

This defeat now puts PSG in a difficult position ahead of the second leg at Anfield. They will need a remarkable performance on Liverpool’s turf to keep their hopes of reaching the quarter-finals alive.
