Indeed, misfortune continues to follow Oussama El Azzouzi. The Moroccan international from AJ Auxerre was once again forced to leave his teammates prematurely this Sunday during the away match against Strasbourg in Ligue 1.
Having suffered a neck injury in September, the Moroccan defender had already been sidelined for over a month. Recently returning to competition, he had regained confidence with two solid performances: 77 minutes against Stade Rennais, followed by a full 90 minutes against Le Havre. But misfortune struck again.
After just a quarter of an hour of play against Strasbourg, El Azzouzi collapsed on the pitch, visibly injured his ankle after a duel with Panichelli. The medical staff quickly intervened to attend to him. Courageously, the player attempted to continue, but ultimately had to leave the field as the pain was too intense.
His forced substitution is another blow for Auxerre, who are already struggling this season. Despite the efforts of his teammates, the Burgundy club lost on the pitch at the Stade de la Meinau, confirming a difficult period.
With this defeat, AJ Auxerre remains stuck in the relegation zone, sitting in 17th place in the standings, and will have to hope for a quick return of their Moroccan international to turn the situation around.
