The indoor 3000m record, dating back to 2003, has been broken, going from 7m 33.73s to 7m 32.45s.

Anass Essayi achieved this feat at the Liévin meeting in France. He thus breaks the national record set by the legend El Guerrouj, but also continues his momentum after several good results and times in the same distances as his predecessor.
This is a promising sign for the future in a discipline that has long been successful for Morocco and Moroccans, but which, for far too long, has seen our athletes underperforming. The 23-year-old athlete thus comes to relaunch Moroccan athletics, following the unshakable Soufiane El Bakkali, who remains the sole provider of medals in these disciplines…
