The Moroccan national under-20 team continues its preparation for the Africa U20 Cup of Nations with a new victory. After winning against Ghana (1-0) in their first friendly match, the Atlas Lions’ cubs followed up on Saturday by defeating Sierra Leone 2-0 at the Mohammed VI Football Complex.
This match is part of the preparations for the U20 AFCON, which will be held in Ivory Coast in April and May. Facing a resilient Sierra Leone team, the young Moroccans managed to make the difference with their game control and offensive efficiency.
Ismail Aoued, midfielder for RC Lens, opened the scoring in the 26th minute, confirming his importance in the Moroccan midfield. At the end of the match, while Sierra Leone was trying to equalize, Adnane Kharroubi, a forward for SM Caen and the author of 19 goals this season with the French club’s U19 team, secured the victory for the cubs in injury time of the second half.
Under the leadership of Mohamed Ouahbi, the Moroccan U20 team is showing positive momentum as the continental tournament approaches. With these two consecutive victories, the team is demonstrating encouraging signs and will need to maintain this pace to hope for success in Ivory Coast.
