As part of their preparation camp at the Mohammed VI Football Complex, the Moroccan U20 national team will face their Ghanaian counterparts this Thursday, March 20, at 20:00 in a friendly match. This encounter marks the beginning of a series of tests for the Atlas Cubs in anticipation of the U20 Africa Cup of Nations, scheduled to take place in Ivory Coast from April 26 to May 18, 2025.
Under the direction of Mohamed Ouahbi, the young Moroccans are continuing to build momentum with a busy program. Following this first confrontation against Ghana, a second match between the two teams is planned for March 24. In the meantime, the Lions will clash with the U20 team from Sierra Leone on Saturday, March 22.
For this gathering, the national coach has called up an extended squad of 30 players, 23 of whom play abroad. Several talents from European leagues, particularly in France, the Netherlands, Italy, Portugal, and Belgium, will be looking to secure a place in the final squad for the continental competition.
Qualified for the final phase of the Africa Cup of Nations after winning the UNAF U20 Tournament in November 2024 in Egypt, Morocco will compete in a tough group alongside Nigeria, Egypt, and South Africa. These friendly matches will thus allow the Cubs to fine-tune their preparations before entering the heart of the competition.
