    Morocco prevails against Mozambique

Morocco began its series of friendly matches ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations by defeating Mozambique 1-0 on Friday, November 14, at the Grand Stadium of Tangier. Dominating from the outset, the Atlas Lions quickly took control thanks to a magnificent curled shot from Azzedine Ounahi in the 6th minute.

Despite overall control of the match, the Moroccans did not always find precision in their final actions. Under incessant rain, coach Hoalid Regragui’s team continued to push but struggled with their finishing. Mozambique, for its part, appeared timid, settling for rare counterattacks that posed no real danger.

Upon returning from the locker room, Morocco intensified its pressure. A penalty was awarded in the 55th minute after a handball by Calila on a cross from Mazraoui, but Ayoub El Kaabi missed the opportunity to double the lead by hitting the crossbar. Substituted in, Igamane made an impact and showcased a powerful shot that was saved by the goalkeeper, while En-Nesyri narrowly missed the chance to score the second goal.

Supported by a very present crowd, the Atlas Lions secured a logical victory, albeit without shining. This success will need to be confirmed with greater control against Uganda on November 18.
